Client Introduction

Sydney Airport is Australia’s busiest and most important commercial airport and is one of the oldest continuously operating airports in the world. It is also one of the major employers in Sydney, directly providing an estimated 62,000 jobs and a further 108,400 jobs through flow-on effects.

Project Overview

Sydney Airport approached Switch I.T. to present a strategy for the redesign and restructure of the web site in competition with a number of other high profile Sydney web development studios. The primary goal of the brief identified the need for a new interface and navigation structure on the site to improve aesthetics and ease of use.

After presenting Sydney Airport with a re-launch strategy for the web site and a number of initial design concepts, Switch I.T. was selected as the successful bidder and awarded the project.

The primary goal of the site was to become a genuine tool in advocating that Sydney Airport was so much more than just an airport. This was facilitated by the promotion of important events and the shopping facilities available in key positions on the front page.

The new site remains rich in content and quality, but simple and reliable in its design and usability.

On top of the provision of a new interface, Switch I.T. also designed a system to integrate the site with live flight information allowing users to search for upcoming international and domestic arrivals and departures.
