Client Introduction

Making Changes is the online arm of Dr Timothy J Sharp & Associates, an independent Sydney based chain of highly qualified clinical, consulting & coaching psychologists.

Project Overview

After a string of successful projects in the past, including a web site, client extranet and Online Scheduling System, Making Changes contracted Switch I.T. to develop a cost-effective e-Commerce system that would enable them to sell their own, and other recommended products to their growing visitor base.

A comprehensive shopping cart was developed to allow customers to intuitively add/remove and modify the items in their shopping cart. The delivery costs were calculated dynamically by the system based on the customers number of products and their postcode. A simple three-step secure checkout process was then implemented under the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) architecture to avoid confusing customers and losing potential sales.

To facilitate in-house maintenance, Switch I.T. also integrated a product management system into the existing SwitchBack Content Management System already being used to maintain the web site. This intuitive system gives Making Changes staff the ability to easily add any number of products and product categories to the web site. Staff can attach pictures, full descriptions, colours, sizes, etc to each product to provide potential customers with as much information as possible to encourage an online purchase.

An order processing and archiving system was then developed to process all online customer orders. This system allows Making Changes staff to easily process all new orders, as well as the automatic generation of Tax Invoices to be sent with customer orders. All merchant facilities required by this system were set up by Switch I.T. on behalf of the client.
