Project Overview

Switch I.T. was approached to develop one application and one installer to be pre-installed on all new Toshiba notebooks in the country. The software was developed in conjunction with Switch I.T. partner Tolemy Communications, who supplied all artwork and system requirements.

The project required the development of two separate applications as well as an intuitive installer allowing the software to be installed manually or in an automated batch mode. The two applications included:

  • Toshiba Flying Start Toolbar
The Toshiba Flying Start Toolbar provides users with fast access to a number of useful Microsoft Office templates, screensavers and other information such as how to connect to the Internet. The application is configured to load on system startup allowing new users to intuitively access a range of tools and information without sufficient knowledge of the system itself.
  • Toshca Care Exercises
The Toshca Care Exercises Application displays useful exercise routines at pre-selected intervals and times of the day to ensure all Toshiba users do as much as possible to avoid any injury related to the long-term use of their Toshiba notebook. The application allows a user to set the time range they would like to be reminded to exercise, as well as the frequency of reminders within this range.

Both applications will also be available on a CD packaged with the new notebook. Switch I.T. also developed an uninstall routine for each program allowing users to cleanly remove either application from their system.
